Lime challenged by MyTaxi with free floating scooters

Lime MyTaxi

MyTaxi has posted its ambitions to offer self-service electric scooters by the end of 2018. A market on which more and more companies are positioned.

New self-service electric scooters on the horizon: the company MyTaxi, owned by the German automaker Daimler since 2014, intends to embark on this new market very popular for several months already. Its application, which connects over 100 000 drivers with users from 100 cities, should offer this new mode of urban transport by the end of the year, we learn in the columns of TechCrunch.

Scooter model already unveiled

Initially deployed in southern Europe, its fleet will then be launched around the globe in the course of 2019, with the aim of becoming one of the undisputed leaders of this visibly attractive new segment. If no information about the fee schedule has been provided, the scooter model used has been disclosed: it will be the Ninebot by Segway ES4.

With a weight of 14 kg, the product in question offers a range of 45 kilometers depending on the driving style of the user and reaches the maximum speed of 30 km / h. MyTaxi, whose brand name remained unchanged despite its merger with the company Hailo at the end of 2016,

An increasingly crowded market

In the lead, Lime and Bird remain the best positioned. But the American duo was soon joined by the operator Bolt, driven by Taxify.

This new strategic positioning of MyTaxi is not unlike that of Uber, one of its main rivals on the VTC sector, who would currently work on a self-service electric scooter model in the coming months.
