Eight explosive packages - which could be nine if confirmed in the restaurant of actor Robert De Niro - were sent against well-known Democratic figures, such as former President Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, or personalities perceived as critical of President Donald Trump.

The first package of all was found in the suburbs of New York in a mailbox of the residence of a tycoon and philanthropist of 88 years: George Soros.

In a letter sent to The New York Times, his son Alexander Soros openly linked bomb packages with the political practice of "demonizing the adversary."

And the truth is that Soros, a multimillionaire of liberal ideology who advocates for a "more open and equitable" world, has many enemies among the conservative right of the United States and also of other countries.

Who is George Soros?

Soros was born in Hungary in 1930 and lived there during the Nazi occupation in 1944 and 1945 when more than 500,000 Hungarian Jews were killed. Soros is also known as "the man who broke the Bank of England," after winning $ 1 billion in a single day with an attack on the pound sterling on Wednesday, September 16, 1992 (since then "black Wednesday").

He is currently ranked 80th on the list of richest men on the planet by Forbes magazine, with a personal fortune valued at the US $ 8,300 million after donating the US $ 18,000 to his philanthropic foundation.
