Kelvin Benjamin prefers Kansas City Chiefs over Bills

Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, dismissed by Buffalo Bills this week, is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs. The report was first reported by US-based ESPN journalist Adam Schefter late Thursday.

The deal is a yearlong, meaning that Benjamin will be a free agent after the 2018 National Football League season.
Selected in the first round of the 2014 draft by the Carolina Panthers, with the 28th overall choice, Benjamin did not have his rights acquired by any team last Wednesday, one day after being cut by the Bills, and thus became a free agent.
Now, he is a complementary weapon for the very strong attack of the Chiefs, who enter week 14 with a campaign of ten victories and two defeats, the best of the whole American Conference (AFC).

The Chiefs' attack is the best in points throughout the NFL, averaging 37 points per game. The team is also the league's third-best in yards, with 437.2 produced per game.

Buffalo Bills, who dropped to 4-8 with their defeat this past weekend, eventually opted to evaluate their young receivers in recent weeks. Benjamin has only played 40-58% of offensive snaps in the last three games after playing at least 60% of snaps in the first nine games of the season.

The Bills acquired the 27-year-old wide receiver in a deal with the Carolina Panthers closed in October 2017, sending the North Carolina team a choice of third and a seventh round of the 2018 draft to take the wide out.

However, in 18 regular-season games with the team shirt, Benjamin made just 39 receptions for 571 yards and two touchdowns. In this 2018 season, there were only 23 receptions for 354 yards and a TD in 12 games.

In his professional career so far, Kelvin Benjamin has collected 207 receptions for 2,995 yards and 20 touchdowns in 58 matches. Benjamin's best season was in 2014, his first in the NFL when he made 73 receptions for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 Panthers jersey games.

Benjamin then stayed out of the entire 2015 season after breaking the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee and has not been the same player ever since. Its productivity has dropped in a frightening way in recent years.
